The world is on fire outside, but we are not yet, not quite. It gives one a peculiar perspective on the end of the world, being close enough to the edge of it to look over. Never had enough money for a place closer to the Middle, never fully slipped into the fire myself, with a lot of luck and a lot of help. So here we are. Smoke in the air, ash raining from the sky… it’s days like this that I’m glad I work with kittens.
